Stuck in an airport... Again

I do plan on posting about the honeymoon but for now I'm stuck in an airport and have nothing better to do so I'm posting out of order. It's so quiet in here right now, it doesn't seem right to be in here. Here's a picture:

So quiet. There's probably only about 5 people in here. We got here around 7pm local time last night and we don't leave until about 7am. It's now just after 1am, so only about 6 hours to go. Not too bad really. We found some chairs near a power outlet so we've been watching tv shows. See..

As you can see we also found some chocolate to keep us not hungry while we wait. Everything closed around 11 so we had to stock up.

Anywho, time to go eat some more M&Ms and watch tv!

Only 5 more days!

It's getting closer! Only 5 days left! I'm still not getting nervous, I have plans for everything so there really isn't anything to worry about. If something goes wrong it's not the end of the world anyway.

I finished the favors today, and the centerpieces were finished yesterday. Here's some pictures:

This is one of the centerpieces...

And the favors. They're filled with pink peanut M&Ms and chocolate covered peanuts. They look a bit dull in the picture but they're actually really cute...

And I fixed my guestbook to make it look better. I had one with just a white sheer ribbon and bow on the front and it looked really boring. I cut that one off and made my own. I think it looks much better and now it matches everything else too...

I might update again before the wedding but if not, I'll definitely be updating after! We're going to Jamaica for our honeymoon and I'm so excited! I'm even excited about the long flight and the layover in Toronto on the way back. I've never been there either so it should be fun :)

My days are numbered!

My non married days anyway. I almost said single days but I'm not exactly single either.

There are 10 days left until the wedding and things are starting to come together now. I have everything I need for the centerpieces so I can start working on that tomorrow, and I think all there is left to do is figure out some way to get the music for the ceremony outside, and to finish all the last minute things like centerpieces and favors and whatnot. Minor stuff. All the big stuff is done :)

I'm starting to wonder how many people actually read the back of the invitation where we said we're not doing traditional gifts. I've had a couple guests ask me where we're registered and what we would like for a gift. While gifts are great, we have been living together since December 2005 so we pretty much have everything we need. The one thing we do need though is money to pay off our honeymoon, among other things. And of course one must eat, and we run out of things and need to replace things on occasion and just like shopping in general, so we've asked for gift cards and donations in lieu of traditional gifts. Sounds reasonable right? As I've been telling all who ask, we really don't need any more toasters and our blender works fine, thanks :)

California 2009

I got to Sacramento on Thursday and I have to say it's pretty much the same scenery as at home (minus the snow of course). They have palm trees that we don't have, but everything else is basically the same. I don't know what I was expecting but it doesn't even seem like I left the Okanagan. I'm sure if we were closer to the water it would be different, in the fancier areas of California. I don't know. It's been fun though

I met up with my parents here and we went to the Sacramento Zoo on Friday. That was fun, I got lots of pictures. You can see all my pictures from Thursday - Friday here: California Pictures

Today we went to Grass Valley to my friend's parents house. It was fun, but it started raining while we were there and was generally miserable all day. I checked the temperature when we got back and it was the same as in Vernon, which is kind of sad really.

Tomorrow we leave for Vegas! I'm excited to go there, but at the same time I'm going to be glad to get home. I feel like I haven't been home for most of the month and I miss it. Not that I'm ungrateful for being on this trip, I'm definitely happy to have come here. Even just flying by myself into the states was an adventure! I got "randomly" searched at the airport, that was fun.

When I got into Seattle I had some breakfast at the airport (which wasn't bad by the way, some bagel place), and then I had to walk all the way across the airport and sit for like 2 hours. That was boring but I had my laptop and a carry-on bag so I didn't want to wander around too much (very heavy!)

Anywho, I think it's bedtime now because I have to be up early in the morning for my flight. I will update this as I can, that might only be when I get home.

The Tupperware Project

I recently spent some of my tax return on some Tupperware to reorganize my kitchen. I posted awhile ago about organizing my home and my life this year, and this was a big step. I couldn't believe what a difference it made. I just had to post the before and after pictures.

This is the cupboard I specifically measured for the biggest set of containers I bought. I only planned on organizing this cupboard to start with, but ended up doing the entire kitchen! I'm glad I did! As you'll see, it made a HUGE difference!

I didn't realize I had so many kinds of pasta! I found some of them hiding in other cupboards.

To see the rest of the before and after pictures, go to: Tupperware Project

I am so glad I finally organized everything. I've seen the cliche Tupperware before and after pictures but seeing it happen in my kitchen is just something else. It does really work and it's really that easy.

a Cactus named Lola

I got a new cactus today. I named it Lola. It's so cute and tiny right now. I don't really know what else to say about Lola.

Toto & Herman

I forgot to post about Toto & Herman! I got them for Christmas 2008. Toto is the big one, the other one is my sister's (Herman). They're both in my tank though so they can be friends.

I got them December 24th 2008, we'll see how they grow :) So far they're doing great. They're both getting bigger already. They really like oranges. They make quite a mess with them though so they don't get them very often.

You can click on the picture to see it bigger.

Update - Charlie & Friends

This picture was actually taken on February 8th, exactly 2 months since I got Charlie. He's getting so big :) If you look back to the first picture I posted, he's probably about twice the size now. It's pretty amazing.

He tries to jump out of the tank every time I feed him, which is going to be really annoying when he gets bigger, I hope he gets over that. I try to trick him by putting the food on the other side before he gets there but sometimes he's too fast and jumps anyway.

Oh well, I'll just have to make sure the lid is on really good when he gets big! Next update in a month or so :)

Venus Fly Trap - day 1

I planted a Venus Fly Trap yesterday. It's technically day 2 today but the picture is from day 1 so I'll stick with that.

I bought a kit that came with seeds, dirt, sand and instructions. The seeds were in the fridge for about 2 weeks to start the whole process, and I just planted them yesterday. They're in a little pot inside a plastic bag to promote humidity. I also put them in our grow tent to give them the best chance. The instructions say you can just put it in front of a window to give it lots of sunlight, but I figured this would be better :)

It says it takes about 6 weeks for the sprouts to appear, so I probably won't post anything else about this little guy until that happens, but as soon as something happens I'll post another picture! Apparently these are hard to grow so I hope they at least sprout for me :)

Valentine's Baking!

I made this heart shaped double layer chocolate cake for Denis to bring to work tomorrow :) Aren't I just the perfect woman?

I was going to make cupcakes too (in fact I did make the cupcakes), but it's really late and I have to get to bed so they'll have to wait. Maybe I'll frost them tomorrow and bring them to my old work chums over at Genesis :) It's been awhile since I've brought them yummy snacks.

Okay bedtime for me! I have 2 more things to post about tomorrow but you'll just have to wait. Be patient, you know they'll be good! Actually they're about a fish and a plant. Intrigued? Just wait!

My quest for organization!

I decided last night (a little late I know), that my all year New Years Resolution is to be organized this year. I have been so unorganized and cluttered (not just my house, me in general) for so many years and it's time to change that. I'm the kind of person that does everything better when stuff is clean and out of the way, so I believe every part of my life will improve with a little organization.

I started last week by changing my garbage system. Doesn't sound like much, but the old system involved bags and bags of garbage on my back porch, and us crossing our fingers on garbage day that some animal hadn't ripped through it all. So last week I got a huge garbage bin with a secure lid and put that outside, and got bags that fit in it. I then got a smaller garbage can for the kitchen (we had a big one before and it stunk bad by the time we had to change it), so I can change the bags every other day or so and throw them in the big one outside. I'm already happier because of it.

Last night I ordered about $500 worth of Tupperware containers (I'm a rep so I got 25% off that but just for illustrative purposes I posted the full amount), and I'm organizing my cupboards with them. I've had a bug problem in my kitchen for quite awhile so putting everything in sealed containers will not only save me money on food (not throwing stuff away because it's stale and/or has bugs in it), but will kill off the bugs altogether finally.

Last night I also organized my business stuff. I do Passion Parties for a living (and Tupperware on the side mainly for the discount), so I have tax stuff I have to keep for write-offs. I also made folders to put my party records in with sticky notes on the front so I can keep track of my sales for the month.

And that's just the beginning of my organization :)

Snow Snow Go Away!

When will it ever stop?? I know it's just barely February but I'm pretty sure last year at this time we weren't getting any new snow. Now it just won't go away! And we keep getting new stuff so it's never going to go away! We're going to have snow forever!

It hadn't snowed for awhile and it was actually starting to warm up and some of it was melting, and then this morning it started again. And it's just been getting worse all day. There was a snowfall warning of 10 - 25cm for tonight and tomorrow morning and by the looks of it they were right. It's awful. I mean it's pretty and all, but I'm ready for some spring weather. I'd like to break out my bike so I can get around when I don't have the car.

Oh well. I'll wait. It has to end sometime!

Charlie & Friends

This is Charlie. I got him after my last Oscar (Nostradamus) died tragically after jumping out of his tank.

One thing I always regretted with Nostradamus is not documenting his growth. He grew so fast I didn't even think of it until it was already too late. I do have a couple pictures of him throughout his "childhood" but not too many. I'm not going to make that mistake with Charlie.

So this is Charlie the day I brought him home (December 8 2008). I also got him some "Friends," 4 Venustus Cichlids (it's telling me I spelled that wrong but I'm pretty sure it's right). They all look the same so rather than naming them all they're just the "Friends" part of Charlie & Friends. They're all getting along well and I had great luck with Nostradamus and his smaller cichlid buddy last time so I'm hoping these guys will stay peaceful toward each other.
This is Charlie now (January 13 2009). You can see him in front of the same rock in his tank, he's grown quite a bit. You can see some of the Friends in there too. They're an energetic bunch.

One night I went to feed them, and Charlie got so excited for the food as soon as I dropped it in there he jumped and sailed right out of the tank onto the floor! I threw him back in and he was fine, but he better not keep that up! It's not so easy to just throw them back in the tank when they're like 10 inches long!

Anywho, I plan to take a new picture of Charlie every month or so to document his growth. It should be interesting to look back on when he's all big and grown up.

Time to book some parties!

I am so excited right now! Tupperware is offering an amazing deal for Hosts right now so I'm going to go out there tomorrow and promote it! Time to book me a ton of parties and get my financial ball rolling! And I don't have to feel bad for being pushy because this is really an amazing deal. When else can you get $700 in Tupperware for $115! It's incredible! Honestly I don't know how they're not losing money on it.

On top of that, I'm doing great with my weight loss! I've lost 3.8 lbs so far since January 1st and that's just from eating healthy. No more stupid food decisions. My plan is to stick to my calorie requirements Monday to Friday and then on the weekends I can splurge a little. The thing is I work so hard during the week I don't want to ruin it all so even though I'm allowed to splurge I still keep it pretty healthy. I just know that if there's something I want that I probably shouldn't have, I just have to wait until the weekend. So far it's working, even eating more than usual on the weekend I'm still on track. I have another 22.8 lbs to lose and I'm hoping to get there by my wedding in May! I know I can do it :)

Blogging from my phone?

Neat. I'm not a big blogger but maybe this will help. Just a test entry for now, I want to see how it works. Of course it needs a photo...

That's as good as any. Christmas 2008, homemade Santa beard. Stylish!

Okay post!
