A few lifestyle changes...

Baked ham with asparagus and mashed cauliflower. A virtually carb free dinner :)

I keep expecting to see the results of my hard work every time I look in the mirror. This wouldn't be a big deal but I get disappointed when I don't. It's ridiculous, I know this isn't going to happen overnight. Like paying off my debt it's going to take a lot of work.

I've been reading a book about paying off consumer debt (credit cards, etc), and it's funny how many things I can take from that and apply to my weight loss journey as well. It's really all about willpower and changing bad habits into good ones, so I suppose it makes sense. It's just neat that it can help me with both the things I want to change about my life.

Today I couldn't go for my daily walk (that I've been doing for about a week, although I've skipped a day or two in there) because it was pouring rain after dinner, so I went to the gym instead. I'm glad I did because I managed to do 20 minutes on the elliptical! That doesn't sound like a lot but the last few times I've gone to the gym I've given up after about 5-10 minutes so 20 is amazing! I've had a ton of energy lately, which is great! I actually want to go out for a walk every day, it doesn't feel like something I HAVE to do anymore. I look forward to it.

My short term goal for now is to lose 10 lbs by April 15th (which brings me to 145). I leave for a vacation on the 16th so it's a good goal date! My ultimate goal is 120 but I'm trying to do it in smaller increments so I can see my hard work paying off (much the same reason I'm paying off one credit card at a time!)

Another thing I've learned from the financial self-help book is not to dwell on past mistakes. I was doing this with my debt, and it just got me more in debt because I became depressed about it and gave up! I can't do that about my weight loss either. Last time I really tried to lose weight I got down to 143! That's 12 lbs lighter than I am now! I gained back 12 lbs! But if I keep thinking about that and all the things I should or shouldn't have done, I'm just going to be sad and depressed and end up gaining even more. I have to look back on that as a lesson learned and move on.

That's all for today. I think I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and see if my hard work IS paying off yet. But if it's not, I'm not going to give up because I know it'll take time and the changes I'm making are going to have a big positive impact overall. I can do this! 10 lbs at a time! :)
